Cyprus Intercity Buses: Routes, Journey Times and Fares
Ten Intercity Buses routes link Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia, Ayia Napa and Protaras, with adult singles from EUR 5 to EUR 10. These tables set out journey times, departures, stops and fares as published on 9 October 2026, plus the district buses that reach Polis.
Fourteen of the 21 possible pairings between the seven main bases in the south of Cyprus are linked by a direct Intercity Buses route, and adult singles cost EUR 5 to EUR 10 as of 9 October 2026. The most frequent weekday link, Nicosia to Larnaca, lists 30 departures each way and takes about 1 hour 15 minutes for EUR 5. Six of the seven gaps involve Polis, reached by district bus from Paphos at EUR 2 by day.
Our getting around Cyprus guide covers the wider choice between buses, taxis and a hire car. Every figure here was read from operator pages on 9 October 2026, so confirm your departure before you travel.
Is there a direct bus between your two bases?
Intercity Buses runs the town-to-town network and lists ten numbered routes in its catalogue. The seven bases here are Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia, Ayia Napa, Protaras and Polis, which makes 21 pairs. Fourteen pairs are served by one of those routes; the other seven had no such route on 9 October 2026, which is not proof that no other bus exists.

Every pairing of Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia and Ayia Napa has a direct route.
Pairs without a direct intercity route
| From and to | First leg | Change at | Second leg |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paphos and Polis | District route 645, or 641 (Monday to Saturday) | No change needed | None |
| Limassol and Polis | Route 56 | Paphos Karavella | District route 645, or 641 (Monday to Saturday) |
| Larnaca and Polis | Route 36, or 46 (Monday to Friday) | Paphos Karavella | District route 645, or 641 (Monday to Saturday) |
| Nicosia and Polis | Route 26 | Paphos Karavella | District route 645, or 641 (Monday to Saturday) |
| Ayia Napa and Polis | Route 36 | Paphos Karavella | District route 645, or 641 (Monday to Saturday) |

| Limassol and Protaras | Route 45 | Larnaca | Route 36 (one bus a day) or OSEA 711 |
Legs are listed from the first town named, so reverse them for the return. No page checked here promises a connection or a through ticket, so treat each change as two separate journeys and check both timetables. For Limassol to Protaras, OSEA lists route 711 from Metropolis Mall, and its stop list includes Archiep. Makariou C' Avenue and Filiou Tsigaridi 1, the address Intercity Buses gives for its Nikolaidis Building stop.
Intercity buses in Cyprus: routes, journey times and fares
Fares are the adult single and return under the tariff in force since 1 April 2025, as shown on 9 October 2026.
| Route | Between | Published time | Single (EUR) | Return (EUR) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | Nicosia and Limassol | 1 h 45 min | 6 | 11 |
| 42 | Nicosia and Larnaca | 1 h 15 min | 5 | 9 |
| 23 | Nicosia and Ayia Napa, Paralimni | 2 h | 6 | 11 |
| 26 | Nicosia and Paphos | 2 h | 8 | 15 |
| 45 | Larnaca and Limassol | 1 h 30 min | 5 | 9 |
| 43 | Larnaca and Ayia Napa, Paralimni | 1 h 15 min | 5 | 9 |
| 56 | Limassol and Paphos | 1 h 15 min | 5 | 9 |
| 36 | Paralimni, Protaras, Ayia Napa, Larnaca and Paphos | 3 h (2 h from Larnaca) | 10 | 19 |
| 46 | Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos | 2 h 45 min | 10 | Not available |
| 35 | Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Limassol | 2 h or 2 h 30 min | 8 | Not available or 15 |
Four routes share the lowest fare of EUR 5, and three of them (42, 43 and 56) also have the shortest published journey, about 1 hour 15 minutes. A return saves EUR 1 over two singles on every route that offers one.
Each published time is the operator's approximate figure for the whole route, which on routes 23, 43, 36 and 35 means the run to or from Paralimni (route 36 also has its own figure from Larnaca). For Ayia Napa stops, the operator's summer 2026 PDF timetable says to add 10 minutes to the start time from Paralimni.
How often the buses run on weekdays and at weekends
Intercity Buses keeps an older and a newer page for most routes. Counts here are from the older pages as read on 9 October 2026, including variants marked as serving different stops; where the newer page differs, both figures are shown. First and last times are from the starting stop.

Nicosia to Larnaca is the most frequent weekday link with 30 departures each way, followed by Nicosia to Limassol with 27. The 30 include runs marked as university hours, so check those for your date.
At weekends Nicosia to Paphos falls from 14 departures each way to 9 and 8, and the last bus from Paphos to Nicosia leaves at 18:30. Larnaca to Limassol drops from 20 each way to 12, with the last departure at 19:30 in both directions.
Route 23 is the exception: its older page lists 20 departures each way at weekends against 15 on weekdays, and the newer page adds a 16:30 from Nicosia. On route 56, two of the 20 weekday entries from Limassol (one of the two 06:00 departures and the 06:55) stop in Limassol only at Agios Georgios Havouzas and Erimi, so they do not serve the New Port.
Larnaca to Paphos bus and other low-frequency routes
Three routes run so rarely that every listed departure fits in one table (as published on 9 October 2026).
| Route | From | Departures | Days listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 36 | Paralimni | 07:30 | Every day |
| 36 | Larnaca (same bus) | 09:00 | Every day |
| 36 | Paphos | 16:00 | Every day |
| 46 | Larnaca | 05:55, 10:15, 15:45 | Monday to Friday |
| 46 | Paphos | 05:45, 10:00, 20:00 | Monday to Friday |
| 35 | Paralimni | 07:45, 13:30 | Every day |
| 35 | Limassol | 10:30, then 16:30 or 16:00 | Every day |
Larnaca to Paphos has two direct options. Route 36 runs every day: it starts in Paralimni at 07:30, leaves the Nikolaidis Building stop in Larnaca at 09:00 and is published at about 2 hours from Larnaca, with one bus back from Paphos at 16:00. Route 46 runs three times each way, Monday to Friday, with a stopover in Limassol and is published at about 2 hours 45 minutes. Both cost EUR 10 in total. No weekend timetable is published for route 46, which leaves route 36 as the only direct bus listed on Saturdays and Sundays.
The operator's newer page presents route 46 as routes 45 and 56 run through, at EUR 5 plus EUR 5. Changing yourself at Limassol New Port on those two routes costs the same, and their published times add up to the same 2 hours 45 minutes before any wait.
Route 35 is the only intercity route between Limassol and Ayia Napa: two departures a day each way for EUR 8, with no Protaras stop listed. Its afternoon bus from Limassol is 16:30 on the older page and the PDF timetable but 16:00 on the newer page, so check before you travel.
Where the intercity bus leaves from in each town
Stop names are given as the operators publish them, checked on 9 October 2026.
| Town | Stop | Routes |
|---|---|---|
| Nicosia | Solomos Square | 25, 42, 23, 26 |
| Larnaca | Nikolaidis Building (Arch. Makarios III Avenue and Filiou Tsigaridi) | 42, 45, 43, 36, 46 |
| Limassol | New Port, passenger terminals | 25, 45, 56, 46, 35 |
| Paphos | Pervola Karavella Station | 26, 56, 36, 46 |
| Ayia Napa | Ayia Napa Monastery | 23, 43, 36, 35 |
| Paralimni | New Famagusta Station (Super Action) | 23, 35 |
| Paralimni | Agios Georgios or New Famagusta Station | 43 |
| Protaras | Hotel stops, including Crystal Springs Hotel and Sunrise Beach Hotel | 36, selected 23 departures |
| Polis | Polis Chrysochous Bus Station | District routes 645, 641 |
None of these is an airport stop. If you are starting from a terminal, our pages on Larnaca International Airport and Paphos International Airport cover the transfer into town.
In Nicosia, the newer route 42 page marks one weekday 14:20 departure as starting from Agapinoros Street. In Larnaca, the 05:50 and 05:55 weekday departures to Nicosia start at Saint George Church, not at the Nikolaidis Building. In Limassol, the two early route 56 departures noted above skip the New Port. In Paralimni, routes 23 and 35 are timed from New Famagusta Station, while route 43 to Larnaca is timed from Agios Georgios on its older page and from New Famagusta Central Bus Station on its newer one, so confirm the stop before you travel.
Ayia Napa to Larnaca bus, and buses for Protaras
Ayia Napa is on four intercity routes, all listing the Ayia Napa Monastery stop: 43 to Larnaca, 23 to Nicosia, 35 to Limassol and 36 to Larnaca and Paphos. Route 43 is the frequent one, with 16 weekday departures towards Larnaca for EUR 5 as of 9 October 2026. Its timetable is written from Paralimni, and the operator's summer 2026 PDF timetable says to add 10 minutes to the start time for Ayia Napa stops.
Protaras has less: route 36 calls at its hotel stops once a day in each direction, and only selected route 23 departures, marked on the route page, pass through Protaras on the way to or from Nicosia.
For local journeys, the district operator OSEA lists route 711 (Larnaca, Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni) and routes 101 and 102 (Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni) at EUR 2.00 for a daytime single under the tariff in force since 1 April 2025. OSEA's current timetables are valid from 25 May to 31 October 2026. Those files could not be read reliably, so no local times appear here.
Paphos to Polis by bus, and on towards Latchi
Polis has no intercity route. Its link to the network is Pafos Buses district route 645 between Polis Chrysochous Bus Station and Karavella in Paphos, plus route 641 through Terra, Droushia, Inia, Kathikas and Theletra. Times are as listed on 9 October 2026.
| Route | Days | From | Departures | First | Last |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 645 | Monday to Friday | Polis | 17 | 05:30 | 23:00 |
| 645 | Monday to Friday | Paphos Karavella | 17 | 06:20 | 00:00 |
| 645 | Saturday | Polis | 12 | 06:30 | 23:00 |
| 645 | Saturday | Paphos Karavella | 12 | 08:00 | 00:00 |
| 645 | Sunday and public holidays | Polis | 14 | 07:00 | 23:00 |
| 645 | Sunday and public holidays | Paphos Karavella | 14 | 08:00 | 00:00 |
| 641 | Monday to Saturday | Polis | 2 | 07:20 | 13:45 |
| 641 | Monday to Saturday | Paphos Karavella | 2 | 12:00 | 15:20 |
As of 9 October 2026 a daytime single costs EUR 2.00 and a district day ticket EUR 6.50; the fare page shows no effective date. The last route 645 buses of the day fall under the night fare: the fare table shows EUR 3.00 after 21:00, while the page's text on the evening ticket (21:01 to 03:49) gives a maximum charge of EUR 3.50.
No journey time is published for either route. On public holidays Pafos Buses runs its Sunday timetable and routes without Sunday service do not operate; route 641 lists Monday to Saturday departures only.
Neither route's published stop sequence includes Latchi, so the harbour needs a local connection from Polis that this page did not check. Our Polis and Latchi page describes the area.
Tickets, passes and how to pay
On an intercity bus the driver takes cash only and issues one-way tickets and paper monthly tickets. The operator's regulations add that Visa is not accepted on the bus for now. The alternative is a Motion card e-wallet at the same single fare, but the card must first be credited at a point of sale to activate the e-wallet. Returns and weekly tickets are sold at the operator's points of sale, not on board (all as of 9 October 2026).
| Routes | Single (EUR) | Weekly (EUR) | Monthly (EUR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42, 45, 43, 56 | 5 | 40 | 90 |
| 25, 23 | 6 | 55 | 120 |
| 26 | 8 | 75 | 160 |
| 36 | 10 | 100 | 210 |
| 46 | 10 | Not available | Not available |
| 35 | 8 | Not available | Not available |
Route-specific period tickets are valid on that route only. On Larnaca to Paphos the sources differ: the route 36 pages list return, weekly and monthly tickets, while the route 46 page and the central tariff's Larnaca to Paphos line mark them as not available.
As of 9 October 2026, official sources disagree on the pass that covers every intercity route and the district networks.
| Published by | Weekly (EUR) | Monthly (EUR) |
|---|---|---|
| Intercity Buses route pages | 100 | 300 |
| Intercity Buses central tariff | Not available | Not available |
| Pafos Buses | 100 | 300 |
| Cyprus Public Transport | 75 | 225 |
| OSEA | 75 | 225 |
Intercity Buses lists the pass on its route pages but marks it not available in its central tariff, so ask at a sales point whether it is sold and at what price. The one-day version costs EUR 20 on the Intercity Buses route pages and the Cyprus Public Transport page. Cyprus Public Transport sells its weekly and monthly versions only with a personalised Motion card.
Children under 6 travel free, and children aged 6 to 18, qualifying students and social-card holders are listed for a 50% discount, but the regulations grant concessions only with a personalised Motion card.
District bus fares for the local leg
The onward local bus is a separate fare from the district operator, listed here as of 9 October 2026.
| Operator and area | Single (EUR) | Night single (EUR) | Day ticket (EUR) | Applies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cyprus Public Transport urban routes, cash (Nicosia, Larnaca) | 2.70 | 4.70 | 8.70 four-trip ticket | From 3 August 2026 |
| Cyprus Public Transport urban routes, Motion card (Nicosia, Larnaca) | 2.00 | 3.50 | None listed | From 3 August 2026 |
| EMEL (Limassol), current | 2.00 | 3.00 | 6.00 | On 9 October 2026 |
| EMEL (Limassol), announced | 2.50 cash, 2.00 e-wallet | 4.00 | 7.00 | From 5 November 2026 |
| Pafos Buses (Paphos, Polis) | 2.00 | 3.00 (page text: maximum 3.50) | 6.50 | Not dated |
| OSEA (Ayia Napa, Protaras) | 2.00 | 3.00 | 6.00 | From 1 April 2025 |
Limassol fares rise on 5 November 2026 under a change EMEL announced on 27 August 2026, so use the second EMEL row from that date. Cyprus Public Transport lists no conventional day ticket for Nicosia or Larnaca, but its four-trip paper ticket at EUR 8.70 works like one: once all four trips are used in one service day, further trips that day are free. Night fares run from 21:00 to 04:00 on the Cyprus Public Transport and OSEA networks. Our Cyprus on a budget guide sets these fares against other daily costs.
District operators also list routes into the Troodos mountains (EMEL from Limassol, Cyprus Public Transport from Nicosia), but their current times and fares could not be confirmed, so none are tabled here.
Timetable versions, public holidays and seasonal changes
Intercity Buses publishes most routes on an older and a newer page, plus PDF timetables, and on 9 October 2026 they differed in the places below. Check with the operator for any row that affects your journey.
| Item | Older route page | Newer page or PDF timetable |
|---|---|---|
| Route 23, weekend departures from Nicosia | 20 | 21 on the newer page (adds 16:30) |
| Route 35, afternoon bus from Limassol | 16:30 (also in the PDF from 20 July 2026) | 16:00 on the newer page |
| Route 35, journey time | 2 h | 2 h 30 min in the PDF from 20 July 2026 |
| Route 35, return ticket | Not available | EUR 15 in the PDF from 20 July 2026 |
| Route 43, departure stop in Paralimni | Agios Georgios | New Famagusta Central Bus Station on the newer page |
| Route 46, single fare | EUR 10 | EUR 5 + EUR 5 on the newer page, as routes 45 and 56 |
Where a route has a weekend timetable, Intercity Buses groups Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays together. Individual holidays can have their own programme, so check before relying on it. The last Intercity winter schedule started on 13 December 2025 (announced on 10 December 2025), and no date for the next one had been found when this page was checked.
How this page was compiled
This is desk research, not a record of journeys taken. On 9 October 2026 every route page in the Intercity Buses catalogue was read alongside the operator's central fare table and ticket regulations, the Pafos Buses pages for routes 645 and 641, and the fare pages of Cyprus Public Transport, EMEL, Pafos Buses and OSEA. The tables were then cross-checked against the operator's newer route pages and PDF timetables.
Not confirmed: current timetables for the mountain routes and for OSEA routes 711, 101 and 102, including OSEA's schedule from November 2026; journey times for the Polis routes; which version applies where Intercity Buses sources disagree; the price and availability of the all-districts pass; and whether any connection between two buses is guaranteed. Prices and timetables change, so use the official pages below for the day you travel.
