Protaras Watersports

The sheltered, sandy beaches of Protaras are a centre for watersports on the southeast coast. Fig Tree Bay and the nearby beaches host operators running the full range of activities, from gentle pedalos to fast-paced rides, through the main summer season.

Typical options include jet ski hire, parasailing for a view back over the coast, and towed inflatables such as banana boats and ringos that are taken in groups. Calmer choices like pedalos, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards suit families and quieter days, and can be hired by the half-hour or hour. The clear, shallow water and generally calm conditions at Fig Tree Bay make it a comfortable place to try something on the water for the first time, with the operators positioned right on the sand.

Booking on the beach

Most activities are booked directly at the beach huts rather than in advance, so you can decide on the day based on the sea and the wind. Operators provide life jackets and brief you before you go out, and staff stay on hand on the water. Prices vary by activity and the length of the session, so it is easy to mix a faster ride with a calmer one.
