Sheltered cove between Protaras and Cape Greco
Konnos Bay is a compact cove of pale sand tucked into the headland between Protaras and Cape Greco. Limestone cliffs and pine slopes wrap around the bay, sheltering it from wind and giving the water an unusually clear, calm character. It is one of the most photographed small beaches in the Republic of Cyprus, and it carries Blue Flag status. The pale sand and the steep green slopes give it a postcard look that draws steady crowds in summer.
The cove sits inside the Cape Greco National Forest Park, a protected Natura 2000 area that runs to several hundred hectares, so the backdrop stays green and largely undeveloped. The calm water is good for swimming and snorkelling around the rocky edges, and small boats and pleasure cruisers sometimes anchor offshore. Sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach kiosk operate in season, but the bay is small and fills quickly, so an early start helps, and the access road down to it is steep with limited parking at the top.
Konnos is an easy stop on the way to the walking trails, sea caves and viewpoints of Cape Greco. It pairs well with a Protaras day at Fig Tree Bay or Sunrise Beach, and the lively beaches of Ayia Napa sit just to the west.
