Limassol Castle

Limassol Castle sits in the old town of Limassol, a short walk from the old harbour and the marina. The present castle stands on the site of earlier fortifications, and its thick stone walls now enclose the Cyprus Medieval Museum, which has occupied the building since the late 1980s. It is an easy, compact stop in the heart of the city.

The museum displays cover the medieval and later periods, with armour and weapons, carved tombstones, pottery, coins and objects from daily, religious and economic life on the island. You move through vaulted halls and up to the roof, where a terrace gives a view over the old town rooftops and toward the sea.

In the old town

The castle anchors a walkable district of narrow lanes, cafes and the restored Carob Mill complex next door. It works well alongside the western sites of Kolossi Castle and Ancient Kourion on a wider Limassol day. The town beach at Lady's Mile Beach lies a short drive away.
