Lady's Mile is a long, straight beach running down the eastern side of the Akrotiri peninsula, just south of Limassol. It stretches for several kilometres along flat ground, with dark grey to golden sand and water that stays very shallow a long way out, which makes it easy and reassuring for families and small children. The length means there is almost always space to spread out, even in summer.

The beach lies on the Akrotiri area near the British base, and inland sits the Akrotiri Salt Lake, a wetland of European importance where flamingos and other migrating birds gather in winter. Several beach tavernas and cafes are spread along the shore, some with sunbeds, water inflatables and games for children, so families can settle in for the day. Lifeguards are stationed along parts of the beach through the main season. The access road is largely unpaved, so expect a dusty drive in, and the shallowest, warmest water is at the southern end where the sand turns golden.

Good to know

  • Very shallow water and a long, flat beach suited to families.
  • Beach tavernas, sunbeds and some with children's facilities.
  • Lifeguards on parts of the beach during the main season.
  • The nearby Akrotiri Salt Lake draws flamingos in winter.

Lady's Mile pairs well with the Limassol sights inland, including Kolossi Castle and Ancient Kourion, and the old town around Limassol Castle. For a different kind of beach in the same district, the chalk-cliff coves of Governor's Beach lie east of the city.
