Harbourside seafood since 1957, with a pelican for company
A harbourfront seafood restaurant at Paphos Harbour with a history dating to 1957, known for fresh fish, mezze platters, and the resident pelican that gives it its name.
Right on Paphos Harbour a few meters from Paphos Castle, this restaurant traces its roots to 1957, when it opened as a small seafood coffee shop called Aphrodite serving local fishermen. In 1967 an injured pelican was brought in by fishermen, and it has kept a resident pelican and the Pelican name ever since. The menu runs from fish mezze and garlic mussels to grilled fish and lobster, priced with fresh fish sold by the kilogram.
It's a long-running harbourside fixture with a full official website listing a detailed menu, and it turns up consistently across independent listings (Tripadvisor, Wolt, Cyprus restaurant directories, Instagram, Facebook) as an active, currently-operating business. A 2024 Cyprus Mail feature also confirms the pelican history and ongoing operation.
