Roman mosaics and ancient ruins by the harbour
The Paphos Archaeological Park spreads across Kato Paphos beside the harbour in Paphos, covering ruins that span from prehistoric times into the Middle Ages. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980 for its mosaics and ancient remains. You can easily spend half a day walking the paths between the major monuments.
The highlight is the set of Roman villa floors, especially the House of Dionysos, named for the wine god who appears in several of its mosaics. Other villas, the Houses of Aion, Theseus and Orpheus, preserve mythological and hunting scenes in remarkable detail. Elsewhere in the park you can see the Odeon, a small restored Roman theatre, along with an agora, an asklipieion and the remains of early Christian basilicas.
The site is large and open, with limited shade between the covered mosaic houses. A flat path links the main structures, so it is easier underfoot than some Cyprus sites. The nearby Tombs of the Kings belong to the same UNESCO inscription and make a logical pairing.
Bring water, a hat and sun protection, wear flat shoes, and start early in summer to see the mosaics before the midday heat builds.

Yes. The park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980 for its mosaics, ancient remains and historical importance. The nearby Tombs of the Kings belong to the same inscription.
Allow two to three hours. The site is large and largely open, with the mosaic houses under cover. A flat path links the main monuments, making it easier to walk than some hillier Cyprus sites.
Go in the morning before the midday heat builds over the open ruins. Bring water, a hat and sun cover, and head to the House of Dionysos first, as it draws the biggest crowds later in the day.
