Clear turquoise inlet reached by boat from Latchi
The Blue Lagoon is a sheltered inlet on the northwestern tip of the Akamas peninsula, in the Republic of Cyprus. (This is the Cyprus Akamas Blue Lagoon, not the separate site in the occupied north.) The water here is unusually clear and calm, shading from pale aqua near the rocks to deep turquoise offshore, which is why it has become the headline stop on boat trips along this coast.
There is no road to the lagoon. Most visitors arrive on a boat trip from Latchi harbour, a short drive east of Polis and around 45 minutes from Paphos, with day boats and smaller charters running through the season and stopping for a swim. The more adventurous reach it overland by 4x4 or on foot along the Akamas trails, though that is a rougher, longer way in. The lagoon itself has no facilities, so food, water and shade come with you (or with the boat), and it can get crowded with boats at the height of summer.
A Blue Lagoon boat trip pairs well with the rest of an Akamas day: the springs at the Baths of Aphrodite and the start of the peninsula's coastal trails are near Latchi, while the turtle beach at Lara Beach and the gorge at Avakas Gorge lie on the Akamas coast toward Paphos.

Yes. The water is clear and calm in the sheltered inlet, which makes it a popular stop to swim and snorkel. Boat trips usually allow a timed swim at the lagoon.
No. There are no sunbeds, kiosks or shade at the lagoon itself, so bring water, food and sun protection, or rely on what your boat trip provides.
Boat trips run through the warmer months. Late spring and early autumn offer good conditions with fewer boats than the peak of summer, when the lagoon can get busy.
