Arrive in Paphos and Settle In by the Harbour
Land at Paphos airport (PFO), collect your one-way rental car, and make the short drive into Paphos itself. Paphos sits on the southwest coast and works well as the first base because the airport is close and the town packs several major sites within a few minutes of each other. Check in, change, and ease into the trip.
Spend the afternoon at Paphos Archaeological Park down by the harbour, a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose Roman villas keep some of the finest floor mosaics in the eastern Mediterranean, many of them telling Greek myths in stone. Allow a couple of hours and wear a hat, since there is little shade. From the park you can walk to the medieval Paphos harbour and its small fort.
Lunch near the airport or harbour on arrival; relaxed meze dinner in Paphos. Try halloumi and lountza. Pay in euros (EUR); cards are widely accepted.
Rental car from Paphos airport, about 15 to 20 minutes into town. Drive on the left. Motorways are toll-free.
~$120 per person
Buy water, sunscreen, and snacks at a supermarket on the way in. Confirm your bookings for the week tonight, especially the Blue Lagoon boat trip and any wine tours, which fill up in spring and autumn.
